पाकिस्तान टीम ऑस्ट्रेलिया के दौरे पर 3 मैचो की वनडे सीरीज खेलने के लिए गई और आज ऑस्ट्रेलिया और पाकिस्तान के बिच खेले गए मुकाबले में ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने पाकिस्तान को एक जबरदस्त मुकाबले में हराया।
ऑस्ट्रेलिया और पाकिस्तान के बीच खेली जा रही तीन मैचों की वनडे सीरीज का पहला मुकाबला मेलबर्न क्रिकेट ग्राउंड में खेला गया जिसमें दोनों टीमों के गेंदबाजों का बेहतरीन प्रदर्शन देखने को मिला। इस मैच में पाकिस्तानी टीम को पहले बल्लेबाजी करने का मौका मिला था और वह 46.4 ओवर्स में 203 रनों का स्कोर बनाकर सिमट गई। इसके जवाब में ऑस्ट्रेलियाई टीम भी टारगेट का पीछा करते समय बिल्कुल भी सहज नहीं दिखी लेकिन अंत में वह मुकाबले को 2 विकेट से अपने नाम करने में कामयाब जरूर हो गई। इस मैच में एक अनोखा कमाल भी देखने को मिला जिसमें दोनों ही टीमों की तरफ से एक भी बल्लेबाज 50 रनों का आंकड़ा छूने या पार करने में कामयाब नहीं हो सका। इसके चलते 49 साल पुराना एक रिकॉर्ड भी टूट गया।

मेलबर्न क्रिकेट ग्राउंड में खेले गए वनडे सीरीज के इस पहले मैच में जहां पाकिस्तान की पारी में सबसे ज्यादा निजी स्कोर कप्तान मोहम्मद रिजवान के बल्ले से देखने को मिला जिन्होंने कुल 44 रन बनाए। वहीं ऑस्ट्रेलियाई टीम की तरफ से टारगेट का पीछा करते हुए सबसे ज्यादा निजी स्कोर जोश इंग्लिश के बल्ले से देखने को मिला जो 49 रनों की पारी खेलने में कामयाब हुए थे। इस मैच में दोनों ही टीमों ने मिलकर कुल 407 रन बनाए। इस तरह से ये ऑस्ट्रेलिया में खेले गए अभी तक किसी भी वनडे मैच जिसमें एक भी अर्धशतक नहीं लगा उसमें तीसरा सबसे ज्यादा रन हैं। इससे पहले साल 1975 में मेलबर्न के मैदान पर ऑस्ट्रेलिया और इंग्लैंड के बीच खेले गए वनडे मैच में दोनों टीमों ने मिलकर कुल 381 रन बनाए थे और इस मैच में भी कोई खिलाड़ी फिफ्टी लगाने में कामयाब नहीं हो सका था।
